My darling Nan

Created by Louise 3 years ago
My darling Nan passed away recently; and as I reflect on her wonderful life ahead of her funeral I wanted to share how much she meant to me. If you would like to help me remember her, a link below for donations to Bowel Cancer UK.

Nan helped me shape my values and ultimately my career from an early age. She taught me about the gift of giving. In the photos below there is the thank you letter she received from a homelessness charity after I donated my Christmas present when I was 8 years old.

Nan encouraged me to follow my dreams and travel, just like she had with her precious husband John. She was my glamorous Nan and lived life to the full, and enjoyed her nickname of champagne Nan!

Nan was immediately and unreservedly supportive when I came out which was a difficult time, and her love and pride was just what I needed. She went on in later years to be interviewed by a LGBT magazine about how proud she was of me- photo also below.

Whilst the last 18 months of her life were challenging; it was special to share the joy and respite her two gorgeous great grandsons brought her. And I feel so grateful she got to see me become a mum.

Nan, I promise to pass your stories, values and legacy on to the next generation.
I’m glad you’re finally at peace.
I miss you, Lou xxx
